ever wondered what a 12 month old should eat in a day?
How much food should a 12 month old eat?
As your child grows their appetite will change. So will their nutritional needs. Food will be more of the 12 month olds daily diet than previously.
Some days your child may seem ravenous and other days they may turn their nose up at any food offered. This is normal.
It is a part of their growth and development and a part of asserting their independence.
Babies have small stomachs. Small serving sizes are best.
Having a daily diet that incorporates all the food groups and variety is best for your growing little one.
It can be confusing knowing just how much and the types of foods to give. Avoid processed foods and sweets if possible. Provide snacks at least 1 hour before a meal.
Try to represent at least two food groups in each snack and at least three food groups at each meal.
This will ensure they are receiving their nutritional requirements per day. Limit Juice and milk with snack. This will fill their belly but not provide much nutritional value.
When they start to become more active they may seek out more food to accommodate the extra energy burnt in their activeness.
