We have stayed in all sorts of caravan parks over the course of our family travel.
Some that had all the bells and whistles and some that should not even attempt to call themselves caravan parks. We have stayed in the desert, by the beach and everything in between.
There have been some really expensive ones and some great priced ones…….
Trangie Caravan Park would almost certainly be the caravan park that has the friendliest owners who not only provide a great spot to park your van and rest your head (they have cabins too) but also provide good old fashioned hospitality.
Trangie is on the Mitchell Higway and is 77 km from Dubbo. The closest town with a Coles or Wollies is Naromine (with a Coles) which is approx a 20 minute drive heading towards Dubbo.
There is the FREE pizza night every Thursday.
There is the unlimited FREE WiFi.
There is the well equipped camp kitchen with not one but two pizza ovens (& a normal stove as well, & a BBQ, microwave- completely covering all bases), a huge fridge and it has a TV to watch while cooking.
There is the ‘happy hour’ every night at 5 pm….this isn’t so much about the drinking but it’s about the coming together to have a yarn with other travellers and the owners so you feel part of the small Trangie caravan park community.
There is the camp fire at the 5 pm happy hour in winter complete with the jaffle irons and metal skewers for toasting marshmallows. There is the access of water bowls for the dogs (it is a pet friendly park). There is the clean amenities. There is the welcome pack upon arrival with maps and things to do in the local area (as well as more in the office to peruse).
There is the close proximity to town so you can walk and leave your car behind.
There is the high level of attention to maintaining their grounds in drought like conditions.
There is a park, an oval and swimming pool right on your doorstep.
There is a unique dump point which is gaining it’s own following.
There is the FREE cotton farm tours (April-July)- so disappointing we missed them!
There is the amateur photography club where you can chat about the best place to capture the spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
Staying at the park offers sites or cabins (with a few configurations). The week before we arrived they were packed to the brim with the yearly 5th wheeler group AND a family reunion taking up all sites and cabin. I’m sure their hospitality was just as warm and inviting even though they were super busy.
Their rates are unbelievable! For once there is a caravan park that doesn’t charge extra for kids (under 14). This is quite a rare find in caravan parks.
And it’s only $33 per night per site for a couple.
It is so fantastic to see the passion they have for the local community. Trangie is a small community with a population of 1000 and with a caravan like this people can stop and enjoy the area, spend some money locally all thanks to committed owners.
