Causeway Lake is halfway between Yeppoon and a little place called Emu Park. The park itself is situated right on the lake which offers some lovely sunsets and relaxing views.
The park itself is a no frills style park but it has the location and views as its backdrop so there are no complaints here.
To be fair the amenities are in good working order, nothing flash but they definitely do the job. It was a council run park and had no facilities other than the amenities…no park, pool or any bells and whistles that some other parks offer although it is right across from the Causeway Lake and you could do boat, paddle boat hire, etc. Just bear in mind that all those will incur an additional cost as they are not connected to the park.
Some of the site were lakefront.
There was also the option of cabins (ensuited and budget).
There is a small corner shop/store a short walk away for the essentials and some take away.
The manageress is very busy so to be honest we didn’t see very much of her so we can’t complain about the service. For the size of the park it was well booked and well maintained.
When we stayed here it was $22/night then with the kids (who were both over 4) added in came to $30/night for the stay. We stated 4 nights.
It is in a quiet, relaxing water area. If you love water sports and relaxing it is the perfect location. In terms of supplies then we suggest getting supplies from Rockhampton before heading out. At Causeway Lake there is literally just the caravan park and a takeaway store and the boat hire. You can drive into Yeppoon which is about a 20 minute drive to shops
Given it is not a rated caravan park we would put a guide as 3 star. The people were all friendly and chatty and we felt very welcome. The girls were the only kids during our stay as most of the other sites were Grey Nomads relaxing which this is the perfect spot for.
