The Importance of Feeling Good for Your Loved Ones
At this point in life, can you honestly say that you are feeling completely good about yourself? That you love yourself exactly the way you are and that there is nothing that you want to change about yourself? The immediate answer for those that “have it together” would be “yes” – but sometimes, when you think that everything is just alright with you, the same opinion might not apply to your loved ones as well. Especially when they see that you are trying too much.
Caring for someone is very important – but if you think about it, so are you. For example, when you see that your friends and family members are feeling good and taking care of themselves – and are trying to become better people – you feel happy about it, don’t you? It gives you a certain feeling of accomplishment, right?
Therefore, if you feel that way towards them, what makes you think they do not feel the same about you? When they see that you are depressed, stressed out, and no longer caring about yourself, they will be concerned about you. Becoming your better self is also for the benefit of your loved ones – so, here are some tips to help you.
There’s something oddly satisfying about making yourself look good every day. It might not seem as important, but the manner in which you dress can change your confidence tenfold. For instance, say that you decide to wear yoga pants and a sweater all day. Sure, they are comfy – and perhaps the first thing that you got your hands on. But doesn’t that make you feel like you are out on a rainy day when everything just feels “bleh”?
Now, think about that time you occasionally wore that pretty red dress or that really classy shirt early in the morning. Didn’t that make you feel good about yourself for the rest of the day? Why make this an “occasional habit,” and not something you do every day? Looking good makes you feel good – so, start dressing in a way that makes you feel your best self.
It’s clear that you cannot always be 100% positive – but when you feel that the negative thoughts are coming over you, you need to learn how to dismiss them. Instead of focusing on the bad thoughts, keep onto the ones that will keep you going in the right direction.
One way to control your thoughts is to implement them in your mind early in the morning. Begin each day by saying something really positive to yourself. Think about how well you handled a situation, what good deeds you did, or how you managed to make yourself look great that day. If it’s something that made you smile, that thought will stick with you for the rest of the day.
This may not be something as easy to do as you may think – but if you do, then you’ll have reached the top of the world. Find your inner strength, and access it for the good of everyone that is concerned. If you believe in your own strength, then there is nothing that you won’t be able to do. Believe that your intelligence and strength can get you through anything – and remember that you’ve gone through worse.
Exercising can make you feel good for more than one reason. For one, it will make you look attractive once you start getting nice and toned – which we all know makes us feel very good. This is particularly the case when you’ve recently had kids and still have a “baby weight” situation going on.
Moreover, exercising releases endorphins, which are pretty much your “feel good” hormones. These endorphins will interact with the receptors found in your brain, reducing your perception of pain – and overall, anything that makes you feel bad. It will trigger a positive feeling inside, similar to that of morphine.
Sometimes, going through the same routine on and on is exactly what makes you feel like you are a few steps away from losing your mind. Between your job and your family, it can be really stressful to keep a handle on things – particularly when you never seem to leave your four walls from home.
This is why you should just let go and change the scenery. Take your spouse and kids and plan a trip every now and then. It might seem like something insignificant now – but it will help your brain get the “reboot” that it needs.
Feeling grateful is not just for Thanksgiving – it’s for your everyday life as well. When you have something that you are grateful for, you instantly become happier and less focused on your “down days.” It will “humanise” you, shifting your energy and mind around the positive things that matter.
Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter the most. Getting a new haircut can help you grab an extra shot of confidence and getting a massage can help you release that tension that you have been holding onto for the entire day.
Needless to say, sometimes, you need to give yourself the chance to actually feel good. Whether it’s a manicure, a piercing, or anything else, these bodily treatments can do wonders.
Final Thoughts
When you feel good, you are not the only one to benefit from it – your loved ones will also benefit from your joyful attitude. This is exactly why you need to make sure that you are taking care of yourself so that you become the best self that you can be. All it takes is just a little bit of determination.
