Minnie Water General Store- a not so hidden gem
Minnie Waters is the quintessential little beach community that swells during the summer holiday period.
We were one of the many tourists over the Christmas and New Year break and yet the service was friendly, the food fresh and fast and the overall feeling was welcoming.
Minnie Water is a not so hidden gem of a beach village.
It actually is one of the oldest fishing settlements on the NSW coast and yet it has stayed true to the small beach-side village vibe and is relatively untouched in terms of development.
Minnie Water itself is all about the beach and the laid back lifestyle.
There is little there as such. There is a small area of houses, a reserve towards the north end opposite the store, which contains a hall, some public toilets, picnic/playground area. And there is the beach with vehicle access. There is a caravan park relatively close by.
The general store is the hub of the area. It is a go to.
Now, it may be small in size but it packs a great deal in. It has some essential supplies, a bottle shop, coffee machine for the coffee lover, souvenirs and the only take away in Minnie Water.
By gosh, do they know how to serve some good food at that take away.
The home made pies and sausage rolls were melt in your mouth and were packed with real ingredients and flavour. Nothing like the ones you buy at the servo’s or for that matter some bakeries.
The ‘piece de resistance’ would by far have to be the burgers. They are definitely made with love…. and fresh ingredients.
Not only did they give you a bit of a flashback to the good ‘ol days where burgers were divine with real ingredients and tasty; they were fresh and the kind of burger you had trouble fitting your whole mouth around.
The works burger currently holds the SK best burger award!!
They have the winning formula for the beach side village general store……hands down.
