A child learns and develops an understanding of their world, and develops skills and experience through the act of doing. All areas of development are interlocked in the overall development of a child. It’s important we nurture a child’s wonder of the world. Creativity helps a child learn cognitive skills such as mathematics, problem solving or cause and effect.
Being creative involves thinking and includes using a child’s imagination, memory recall of past experiences & communication. A creative child uses and develops their physical skills both fine and gross motor and develops skills such as scissor skills, making lists, reading instructions or following directions which all helps with future literacy and numeracy skills.
There is no right or wrong way and they should be nurtured to enjoy the process at their own pace.
It’s about the process not the product.
