Approved care
Approved care is the most common form of formal care families access.
You have two types of care. Registered or approved. A service will be classified as an approved care provider or registered care.
Approved care is the name to the type of service offered.
It refers to the fact that the Government has approved the provider to provide a care and education service to families. They have met and must continue to adhere to set regulations and standards.
In order for a service to be approved they must meet the National Quality Standards (NQS) under the National Quality Framework (NQF).
Meeting these requirements is the main point of difference from approved or registered care options.

The main point of difference is that approved services can access the Child Care Subsidy from the Government to assist with the costs associated with care if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Approved care is:
- Long Day Care
- Family Day Care
- Out Of School Hours (before & after and vacation)
- Some occasional care options
- In Home Care.
