Introducing the second book in the Herbert Peabody series.
Herbert Peabody and the Incredible Beehive.
We love Herbert Peabody. This is shaping up to be such a good series.
We get the chance to review some great products and books and we were lucky enough that this book is one.
This and the previous Herbert Peabody and his Extraordinary Vegetable Patch are perfect opportunities for children to learn about serious issues surrounding food and the environment in a wonderfully written book aimed at their level.
It touches on some really key learning points throughout the book such as sustainability, concepts, problem solving and more in a relaxed and easy tale.
We read this as a family (who doesn’t love reading together as a family to bond over the love of books?!) to be able to discuss the elements in the book and the story of Herbert Peabody captivated my girls.
Herbert Peabody himself is a farmer who lives at Mulberry Tree farm.
The same character from the first book and some new ones are cleverly intertwined. Herbert, who through his books, is able to educate and connect the readers about farm life and the intricacies that that entails and the importance of fresh fruit and vegetables. In this book the significance of bees to the food chain and ecosystem is the underlying ingredient.
It captivates their attention through suspense as there is a mystery that Herbert is engaged in. It has morals and demonstrates, using intrigue, the delicate balancing act that impacts our environment.
The essence of the story illuminates the issue of bees; their decreasing population, their importance of the environmental sustainability in a relevant and well written way. The story focuses on problem solving, teamwork and respect and community values….
The book itself has some great elements….
