Highchairs, booster chairs and hook on chairs are great aids in feeding your baby.
Highchairs are a free standing seat for your child.
Booster seats are a little seat that a baby/child can sit on that attaches to the chair.
Hook on or click on seats are ones that attach to the table. The table needs to be a solid one as the weight of the child is balancing from the table it is attached to.
All types are generally suitable from about 6 months (or when they can sit unaided) until they are approximately 2 years (as at this point they generally like to be sitting at the table as a ‘big’ person).
There is the safety concern with all of these types of feeding aids that the child may fall, injure themselves.
It is recommended to always supervise and to use the safety harness provided to secure the child.
All need to follow the Australian Standard AS 4684 which is applicable to these baby products.
